Overview
About Joelle
Joelle Rabion brings something rare to the world of medical cannabis: she has been studying, working with, and deeply believing in its therapeutic potential since long before it became mainstream. A holistic health coach turned cannabis science specialist, Joelle earned a Master of Science in Medical Cannabis Science and Therapeutics from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy in 2021 — one of the first programs of its kind in the country. She combines that rigorous academic foundation with years of practical, hands-on experience helping real patients find the right cannabis approach for their real lives.
Joelle's work is grounded in the understanding that cannabis medicine is not one-size-fits-all. Every person's endocannabinoid system is unique, and finding the right formulation, delivery method, dose, and timing takes knowledge, patience, and individualized guidance. That's exactly what she provides — meeting patients where they are, with compassion and without judgment.

Background
Personal Journey to Integrative Medicine
Joelle's path to cannabis medicine did not begin in a laboratory or a pharmacy — it began in a kitchen, a yoga studio, and the growing conviction that the body has a profound capacity to heal when given the right support. Working as a holistic health coach in Chicago, she helped clients with nutrition, weight management, post-natal health, and corporate wellness programs. She was drawn to the spaces where conventional medicine left gaps — and she kept finding cannabis there.
In 2015, long before the CBD boom, Joelle formulated and brought to market her own line of all-natural CBD wellness shots using fast-acting nano-CBD technology — taking the product from concept to marketplace entirely herself. She also consulted with corporate clients on all-natural supplements for brain health and energy, always pushing toward more effective, more natural delivery systems. These early ventures were more than a business — they were a way of asking: how do we get the right compounds to the right place in the body, at the right time, to actually help people?
That question led her to pursue formal academic training in cannabis medicine. When the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy launched one of the first graduate programs in Medical Cannabis Science and Therapeutics in the country, Joelle enrolled. She graduated in 2021 with a Master of Science — equipped with the pharmacological, clinical, and regulatory knowledge to bring genuine expertise to her coaching practice. Since February 2020, she has been consulting at Takoma Wellness Center, DC's premier medical cannabis dispensary, helping patients navigate cannabis medicine with confidence. Joining GWCIM allowed her to bring that work into a fully integrative clinical setting — exactly where she had always wanted to be.
Clinical Practice
At GWCIM
As GWCIM's Medical Cannabis Coach, Joelle works with patients both in person and via telemedicine to create individualized cannabis plans based on their specific medical conditions and the unique characteristics of their endocannabinoid system. Her goal is always the same: to find the most effective and comfortable path to symptom relief.
What makes Joelle's work at GWCIM particularly powerful is the integrative context in which it happens. Cannabis coaching at GWCIM is not an isolated consultation — it is part of a collaborative, whole-person care model. Joelle works alongside GWCIM's physicians, naturopathic doctors, acupuncturists, and nutritionists, ensuring that cannabis therapy is thoughtfully integrated with each patient's broader treatment plan.
Personal Life
Beyond Work
When she's not coaching patients or staying current on cannabis research, Joelle can be found in the kitchen experimenting with food and flavors — a passion that connects directly to her roots in holistic nutrition. She is an avid cyclist and a dedicated yogi, practices that keep her grounded in the same mind-body philosophy she brings to her work every day.
