DEFINITION
What is ReCODE program?
The ReCODE™ (Reversal of Cognitive Decline) program is a cutting-edge, personalized approach to slowing or reversing cognitive decline, developed by Dr. Dale Bredesen. Rather than managing symptoms, ReCODE™ targets the root causes of cognitive impairment — including inflammation, nutrient deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, and toxin exposure — and uses a comprehensive, holistic strategy to optimize brain health. The program is delivered exclusively by medical providers certified through Apollo Health, Dr. Bredesen's training and support organization.
For individuals who are at risk of cognitive decline but not yet experiencing symptoms, GWCIM also offers the PreCODE program — a less intensive but equally personalized early intervention approach focused on prevention.

ADVANTAGE
Why ReCODE program at GWCIM?
GWCIM is one of a select number of integrative medicine centers in the country offering the ReCODE™ program through an Apollo Health-certified provider team. What sets GWCIM's program apart is its multidisciplinary team—spanning geriatrics, integrative medicine, functional and naturopathic medicine, psychotherapy, nutrition, mold toxicity, and care coordination—all working together under one program. Instead of juggling multiple specialists, participants get a cohesive team that communicates, collaborates, and tracks progress together. GWCIM's integrative medicine philosophy aligns naturally with the ReCODE™ model, making this one of the most comprehensive implementations of the Bredesen Protocol available on the East Coast.
APPROACH
How do we do ReCODE program at GWCIM?
Getting started is simpler than it may seem — our team will guide you through every step. The process begins with a series of initial visits and tests to make sure the program is the right fit for you. You will have a brief phone call with our Care Coordinator, followed by individual appointments with Dr. Kogan, a nutrition and lifestyle coach, and a psychotherapist. We will also arrange some blood tests — including ones you can do at home — as well as a genetic assessment and a sleep study. Once everything is reviewed and you are ready to move forward, you and the team will sign a simple agreement to begin the program.
After that, you do not have to manage your schedule on your own. Our Care Coordinator, Hannah, will organize all your appointments — whether in person or by video call from the comfort of your home. Each day, participants set aside about 2–4 hours for activities like light exercise, brain training, meal preparation, and taking supplements. You will not be doing this alone — a family member or trusted caregiver is invited to be part of the process and will be paired with you from the start. We also offer optional weekly group sessions online where participants and caregivers can connect, as well as quarterly gatherings with the full provider team for updates and questions.
As a program participant, you will also receive a 20% discount on supplements through our online supplement store. Occasionally, the initial assessment may reveal that other health issues — such as dental concerns or mold exposure — need to be addressed as part of your care. If that happens, we will connect you with trusted specialists who work alongside our team.

Q&A
Q&A
The ReCODE™ program is designed for individuals who are experiencing early-stage Alzheimer's disease, mild cognitive impairment, or noticeable memory and cognitive changes. Eligibility is determined through the initial assessment process with Dr. Kogan and the ReCODE team, which reviews your health history, lab results, and cognitive testing.
ReCODE™ is designed for individuals already experiencing cognitive decline and aims to reverse it. PreCODE is designed for individuals who are at risk — due to genetics, family history, or lifestyle factors — but are not yet symptomatic. PreCODE is less intensive and focuses on prevention through early lifestyle and biological intervention. Dr. Kogan can help you determine which program is right for you.
Participants should expect to dedicate approximately 2–4 hours daily to program activities, which may include cognitive training exercises, physical exercise, meal preparation, and supplement management. A committed support person — such as a family member or caregiver — is an important part of the program and will be paired with each participant.
No, you do not need to join Apollo Health to participate in the ReCODE™ program at GWCIM. However, we recommend it. Apollo Health membership provides access to regular virtual sessions with Dr. Bredesen, the Apollo Report, and a broader network of resources and community support.
GWCIM is a cash-based practice and does not accept insurance or submit claims on behalf of patients. However, we provide a superbill with service codes that you may submit to your insurance independently. Most GWCIM services are not covered by standard insurance plans. Third-party services such as dental work, mold programs, and certain lab tests are billed directly by those providers.
In some cases, the initial assessment reveals that mold toxicity or dental issues are contributing to cognitive symptoms and must be addressed as part of the program. GWCIM works with affiliated and recommended specialists — including Dr. Johan Yakel for CIRS and mold, and affiliated dental providers — to coordinate these additional interventions. Associated costs are billed separately by those providers.
Hannah Fine, GWCIM's ReCODE Program and Care Coordinator, is your primary point of contact. She guides participants from the initial eligibility screening through the full duration of the program — scheduling appointments, answering questions, and providing ongoing support. Hannah can be reached at hfine@gwcim.com.
